Synopsis:

An elderly lady living alone in Kolkata spends her time lost in memories and forgetting. Her solitude gets a welcome break with the intrusion of a salesman. But is the man out to take advantage of this ageing woman? And why doesn’t the lady let the salesman leave?
With both the characters trapped in each other’s lies, ‘The Letter’, explores the liminal zone between brutal truths and beautiful lies to finally arrive on the shores of human connection and empathy.

A literature and mass communication graduate from Jadavpur University, Pubali started her career with print and electronic journalism and subsequently switched over to production of live events and TV commercials. A newly introduced Screenplay Writing course at the Film & Television Institute of India in 2005 proved to be a turning point and she found her calling in feature film screenwriting in the Hindi film industry. Her theatrical credits include 'Rock On' ( National Award for Best Hindi Film, 2009) and ' Kai Po Che' ( Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay, 2014). She has also served as faculty of Screenwriting Department at both FTII and Whistling Woods International, apart from serving as mentor for various script labs in India. The quest to tell her original stories has finally led her to plunge into direction. ‘The Letter’ is her indie directorial debut.
